Fashionista Miracles 2014

The is the 6th year for this fundraising event put on by Stewart School. Is a fun night of fashion and hair to raise money for kids in need.

This year the venue was the District in Sioux Falls. It offered us some neat opportunities to showcase the models (all Stewart School Students) and the hair and make-up skills that are learning. This was also a good opportunity for Focused Motion and Cmac Productions to test out some new equipment.

We brought in a Blackmagic ATEM 4K Studio switcher. Both Collin and I have been watching this product line since it was released at NAB and have been clamoring for a a good reason to put it through its paces. It handles 8 inputs (4 HDMI and 4 HD-SDI + audio) to a simple computer interface. Its controlled over a straight network connection but has the option for wireless control over iPad. And it works slick. Of course we tested it before the show and had some signal work arounds to do on set up, but during the show is was flawless. It offered great control over everything we needed to do.

Due to the 2 story nature of the building we deployed the Teradek Bolt for a wireless video feed. Didn’t want to trip up any of the ladies in their heels. It was also rock solid all night long. It was powered from the d-Tap in the Switronix batteries I have and rode on the back of the rails. Hardly noticed it was there. Toshiba mini cam was used as a master wide. This was manually painted to match the other sources.

The night was a success and a lot of money was raised for the kids. Next year’s date is November 14th so mark it down now.
