9/23/11 SD MarketPlace
A former co-worker and recovering video guy invited me to speak at the 2011 South Dakota’s MarketPlace. Chris Studer is the Comunications Director for SD Farmers Union. We crossed paths many moons back in the broadcast arena. His group put on a workshop to help develop rural businesses by offering a two day seminar in Huron, SD the last week in July. Topics were wide ranging and so were the types of businesses that attended.
My topic was video, specifically how to use video to help your cause and not hurt it. Let’s face it, there is a lot of bad video out there. A bad video is easy to make and not even know it. My goal was to help small business owners identify what should, and more importantly what should not be, included in a video about their business or product. Time was short and the examples were many so we smashed right through our allotted time. The attendee comments were positive and one request came in asking for more time for my next presentation.
So, on the list of things to do yet: Speak publicly and live to tell about it. Check!
