The Luck Reunion is Willie Nelson’s little contribution to the SXSW festival. That’s South by Southwest for those of you that don’t speak country music acronyms.
SXSW is huge. It last for over a week in Austin, TX and has festivals around music & film to forms on social issues and technology. The Luck Reunion is only a couple of years old. Its a one day festival in Luck, TX – the place the music legend calls home. (http://luckreunion.com) Its a fun, relaxed and open setting with 5 stage areas that held close to 40 artists this year. And the crowd is limited so everyone there can enjoy.
This year Polecam was brought in to help cover the main stage. We were planning on flying a Blackmagic Micro Studio camera to match the other 4 cameras in play. Except the camera would not fire up. Good thing I brought a back up. Ended up with the FS5 and we had a grand old time. The festival performers started at 12 noon and played until almost midnight. The last few acts were Willie’s kids Micah and his band followed by a soul wheeling Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real. Then Willie came out and capped it off. Great event. Hope to make it back next time around.
Here are some pics of the rig and screen grabs from the raw footage.
